2023 Field of Arts Festival

Tuesday, July 4th, from 9am-3pm


This one-day holiday show is located on the Edgewood Soccer Field on Rt 344, Edgewood. The whole community drives by this field almost every day. It will be the only event happening in town on July 4th and we hope to have everyone there! We will have banners and posters all over town. Food and snacks available. Music all day, too. Make Art Here table for kids. We will be partnering with many of the town’s groups and churches to make this a town party! We have had great festivals in the past. We are all ready for some fun. Be there!

2023 Saturday Arts Camp

 
Two mornings of age grouped art classes:
Group 1/ages 5-7, Group 2/ages 8-9, Group 3/ages 10-13.

Three classes each morning for each camper, with breaks and snacks.

Both mornings together are $25, including supplies and snack.
There will be some scholarships available.

Classes will be held at the Edgewood Middle School on Venus Rd & Hwy 344, Edgewood.

Saturday February 4th:

  • Junk Jam with Recycleman! Learn how to take found objects, turn them into musical instru-ments and form a band. Recycleman brings out everything but the kitchen sink (and sometimes even that!) with this fun and energetic musical session. • Kevin Kinane
  • Making Mobiles • Join Hands in Clay in creating your own beautiful and colorful dangly mobile from start to finish! • Jodi Miller
  • Experimental Drawing & Painting • Using a mixed-media and expressive approach we will make a series of drawings and paintings using pencils, pastels, markers and acrylic paint. We will work from life and imagination, so be ready to jump in and try new techniques! • Shelly Korte

Saturday February 11th:

  • Drums Around The World! • Get your hands on dozens of percussion instruments from all over the planet with Kevin Kinane. Have fun jamming while learning how to create good tones and rhythms in this highly interactive music program.
  • Making Mobiles • Join Hands in Clay in creating your own beautiful and colorful dangly mobile from start to finish! • Jodi Miller
  • Paper, Print, Collage • We will hand-make journals to collect our experiments in printmaking and collage. Try out mono and relief printing! Swap and share prints, tear up paper, glue, layer and have fun making unique works of art. • Shelly Korte

Three days of age grouped art classes. Three classes each morning and two classes each afternoon with the option of Edgewood Idol Contest! with Jo White in the afternoon. Lunches will be provided by the MESD Summer Lunch Program

Classes will be held at the Edgewood Town Hall/Library on Route 344, in Edgewood.

Tuesday Arts Camp includes materials and lunch. There will be some scholarships available.

We have great teachers and classes for this program. Campers can pick Edgewood Idol Contest! in the afternoon.

Shelly Korte – Join Miss Shelly for a journey into the visual arts! From painting and drawing to mixed media sculptures, we will learn new techniques while enjoying freedom of expression. Some classes may create props and sets for Edgewood Idol Contest! performances.

Jodi Miller – Hands in Clay New Mexico! Mini Pots for Many People: A six week guided class on making small ceramic vessels and sculptures in all shapes and small sizes. Come join us for pottery making and fun ceramic games and take home a kiln fired piece of your own art. We are going to have a lot of fun playing with local Manzano red clay – let’s see where mud can take us!

Lenora Romero – Fun Art Projects to achieve an Art piece from beginning to end using soap, foil, color sand, origami paper, slime, and pencil drawing. Looking forward to this Tuesday Arts Camp Program. Join Me!

Gloria Zamora – Native Crafts and Other Arts – Find fabulous creations in simple materials that you already live with. Learn about the traditions of the people of New Mexico and hear their stories.

Jo White – First ever Edgewood Idol Contest! Dancing, singing and stand-up comedy presented by Melodrama Masters, including sets, costumes and choreography. 2 performances will be
prepared for the last day of camp, July 26. Ages 8-14
